This approach has hints of Christianity in it as it refers to learning the bible.Home Learning with a Charlotte Mason Approach

Unschooling’s principle is simple: Your child leads the way. Your child’s interests will guide their learning and lay the path of where they will take their learning further. Some may be in awe of numbers, so Math will become a focus. A child that can tell or listen to stories all day long will more likely to focus on literacy. Or perhaps you have a young scientist at your hands? Unschooling truly puts the child in the centre.“Teach Your Own”book by John Holt + Pat Farenga

Overcoming Obstacles
On a spring visit to the local obstacle course arena, the home learning community spent the day learning, encouraging one another, and stepping out of their comfort zones. For many children, the course was not just about getting past the obstacles, but about facing their fears and trying something they might have thought was too difficult at first.
As they moved from one challenge to the next, the children learned that they could do more together than alone. They supported each other, shared ideas, and made use of each person’s strengths to get through the course. Some children led the way, some offered help when needed, and others kept the group moving forward with patience and trust.
By the end of the day, the obstacle course had become much more than a physical activity. It was a chance for the children to build trust, show leadership, work as a team, and keep going even when things felt hard. Most importantly, they learned that fear can be faced, and often overcome, with the support of others.

LEARNING PATH DESIGN
This meeting takes place after your first consultation with us. By this time, we will have gathered all the necessary information about your child, your family, and your learning goals. We will also have an understanding of your location and the learning opportunities available around you that can be included in the plan.
In this session, we will sit together to discuss and design a learning plan based on the development of your child’s skill sets—some short-term and some long-term. The focus will be on creating a holistic plan that supports overall learning.
This process will take place in two halves of 45 minutes each. The first session will be used to brainstorm and develop a rough learning plan. The second session, held after a week, will focus on reviewing and finalising the plan for your child.
